Apartment Decor

Since I’m twenty-five years old now, have a real grown-up job, and am once again living on my own (with a roommate), I thought it was time to decorate my apartment like an adult. This means no bulletin boards with thumb tacks, no beer related decor, and no posters related to Hanson or Twilight (Taylor and Edward, I still want to hang you on my walls and stare at your beautiful faces for hours on end, but I am older now and this is a compromise I must make. I’m sorry. I still love you!)

I’ve spent the last few weeks searching for the perfect additions to my new apartment. While mulling through my piles of “college stuff” in my mom’s garage I found a few useful items. I was also smart enough to buy some cute framed photos in New York and brought those back to Texas. And my mom and grandfather were generous enough to donate their finances toward this project as well. Thanks, Mom and Paw Paw!

Even though it’s still the beginning stages, I think the apartment is coming together quite well. So, without further ado, I bring you picture collages of my new living room…

I plan to post more pictures later, or maybe even do a video blog giving a tour, but the apartment isn’t quite up to that level of cute-ness yet.

  1. I’ve been living in my apartment for two months and I still haven’t posted any pictures yet! But I went straight into “living” mode and living mode for me = messy! Oh well…

  2. cute! love the decor!

  3. This is far more grown up than my current place, but I’d love my next to look a little more clutter-free šŸ™‚

  4. Its very adult and looks great. Someday maybe I’ll get there, but for now ecclectic, chaotic, and messy works for me.

  5. I did the same thing when i moved in august, except for ONE twilight poser on the back of my closet door. I couldn’t bare to part with the last one!

i made some really cool wall hangings out of fabric from IKEA that I covered a foam board with. They are cheap and fun.

  6. Fun! I love it. I can’t wait to live in a real apartment (aka not BU housing) so I can do a full-out apartment makeover!

  7. Decorating is the good part of moving. I have all my plans in place for my new apartment and will be so relieved when it comes together. Till then, it feels like a very cluttered hotel.

I like the picture of the girl with the pup!

I LOVE your lamp! And the picture of the girl walking her dog in New York. Too cute. I’ve been living in my house for a little over 3 years now and I still haven’t gotten everything the way I want it. As a matter of fact, I’d love to repaint the living room, hallway, and bathrooms. B might kill me!

  9. Don’t you love decorating and trying to stay away from college decor!? At first I found it hard at first but I think I’m doing well so far. šŸ™‚

  10. Your art’s fabulous, and I especially love your quilt!

  11. oh very sophisticated looking, i like it. my apartment is such a mish mash of stuff, one day i’ll get there.

  12. I LOVE it!

I like to have nice decor in my apartment, it makes it feel more homey and NICE to me! I think the stuff you are showing so far looks great.

Although, I have to say – and this opinion might change when I see a pic of the WHOLE pkg – but what does your guy roommate think of the nicely decorated living room? If I didn’t know you lived with a boy I would probably label your apartment as a “girls apartment”. Haha!

Anyways, can’t wait to get the full “tour”!

  13. Decorating is so fun! Keep it up šŸ™‚

  14. So cute! You need to video blog this, stat. =)

  15. You have great taste. I’m moving in.

  16. It looks cute so far! I hope you give us a tour as soon as its ready!

  17. Love it. Love the look. Very adult but with a nice youthful vibe šŸ™‚

  18. This makes me miss my apartment! I love to decorate and have things nice as well; it’s one of the first things I do when I move into a new place =) Can’t wait to see how it evovles!

  19. Classy! I totally want to see a video blog!

  20. I like you simple and classy style. Your new apartment is coming along very nicely. Also, I agree, I want to see a video tour.

  21. Your apartment is lovely! So classy!

  22. Loving the decorating so far! Isn’t decorating a place with your own style just the greatest thing ever? I think that at this age you really discover what your style really is, too. I look at the first apartment I had with the hubby and it makes me giggle because it looked so crappy. Heehee. Oh, how far I’ve come in a few years! Phew!

Anyway, I always say there is still room for some Hanson posters. If only on the fridge. Heehee.

  23. I think a poster with your favorite vampires wouldn’t be so horrible! šŸ™‚ jk

  24. I love that fabulous New York print in your bedroom!
